The first of these special get togethers is for all owners of E24s (that is BMW 6 Series Coupes). These very special cars were manufactured as 630CS, 633CSi, 635CSi, M 635CSi, L6 and M6 from 1976 to 1989. There are many of these cars in the Club in all sorts of condition. Some are daily drivers, some are wild, some are beautiful, some are track prepared some have run Targa events, and some are just spare parts. A day of getting together sharing a coffee, a sausage sizzle and lots of stories is the aim. We have reserved Sunday 20th March for this first event. The final details like venue and time are still to be determined but to get this rolling, if you are interested please send me an email and pass this message on to all E24 owners that you know. This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it Give me some details of your car and suggestions for the venue, time and format of the day. Depending on the success of this day there will be other days for the other special models.

BMW Drivers Club NSW Management

Each year, on the first Wednesday Night in December your Club holds its Annual General Meeting. There has to be a quorum of 25 members present either in person or by proxy. At this meeting the outgoing President reports on the year just completed, the Treasurer reports on the Club finances and the Secretary reads the minutes of the previous AGM. Members then elect their Club Committee to manage the Club for the following year. The Committee is made up of 12 Members.

There are four Executive positions. These are:

  • President who is responsible for ensuring the Club complies with its Constitution, chairs Club meetings and Committee meetings and acts as Club representative with BMW Clubs Australia and other outside bodies.
  • Vice President assists and stands in for the President where needed and acts as Club Ombudsman to settle any disputes between Club members.
  • Secretary manages the Club's general business, including minutes of all formal meetings and receiving and issuing correspondence on behalf of the Club.
  • Treasurer maintains financial records of the Club, including collection of revenue, payment of accounts, attending to tax matters, and preparation of Annual Accounts and presentation to AGM.

The remaining 8 General Committee members share the following committee functions, serve on club subcommittees or call on expert members, from outside the committee, to perform the following club functions:

  • Membership Secretary maintains the Club Membership Database, including registering new members, processing annual membership renewals and issue of membership cards.
  • Motorsport Director manages the Club's Motorsport activities and chairs the Motorsport Subcommittee.
  • Social Events Director manages the Club's social events and chairs the Social Subcommittee.
  • Merchandise Officer co-ordinates production and sale of Club merchandise.
  • Webmaster keeps the Club's website up to date as well as managing the Club's electronic communications.
  • Torque of the Town Editor is responsible for receiving all articles and compiling 4 Journals each year, selling advertising in the journal and chairs the Editorial Subcommittee.
  • Club Delegate to BMW Clubs Australia, responsible for attending BMWCA Annual meeting and managing all communications to and from BMWCA, BMWGA and BMWAG (usually performed by President).
  • Public Officer ensures compliance with all requirements of the Department of Fair Trading and Associations Incorporation Act 2009 (usually performed by the Secretary or Treasurer).
  • Dealer Liaison Officer responsible for keeping the Club liaison with all dealers in NSW and providing them with Club magazine, membership forms and other relevant documentation.
  • Marketing Manager has three tasks:
  1. Promoting the Club and recruiting potential new members,
  2. Researching what members want and working towards fulfilling those desires and
  3. Selling advertising to new advertisers in Torque or the Town and on the Club Website.
  • Sponsorship works with the Club's supporters and the BMW Dealer Network to provide sponsor opportunities for special events.
  • Historic Plates Registrar responsible for managing the Historic Plates Register and ensuring Club adherence to RTA requirements.
  • Charity works within the Club to promote the clubs work in assisting worthwhile charities.

Members of the Club Committee meet once each month to manage the business and affairs of the Club and to set its strategic direction. Individual Committee members report on their specific responsibility and plan and discuss upcoming events. For those Committee members unable to attend a meeting in person, we provide a conference call arrangement.

Please consider nominating for a Committee position and being present at the Annual General Meeting, Wednesday 1st December. Nomination forms for positions are attached and will be mailed to all members during October. The venue for the AGM will be notified in the Notice of Meeting to be issued during November.

A more detailed analysis of each of these committee and club operational functions is contained in the Committee Handbook, an excerpt of which is on this Club website on the Contact Us page.
