Originally known as The Golden Fleece, Collits’ Inn was built by its namesake – former convict and unlikely entrepreneur Pierce Collits. In its first years, the inn served as an important piece of Australian history allowing a place for rest and a touch of home-grown comfort for those making the harrowing journey along the first-ever road from Sydney to Bathurst.
